Our partnerships in the fabric industry.

Schoeller (“The Cool Squeeze” pant)

Industry wide, Schoeller is highly regarded for its outdoor performance stretch materials. When we visit their company showroom, where we can touch all their fabrics, we do feel possessed to pull all the samples onto the floor and roll around in all the dreamy softness. But we don’t. We pull ourselves together and discuss professional items like cost, lead times, and biobased dirt resistant coatings.

Schoeller’s commitment to sustainable innovation is longstanding. They contributed to the founding of the bluesign® certification in 2008 and became the first textile company to receive the certification. Bluesign is a 3rd-party system of certifying that fabrics meet strict requirements for environmental sustainability, responsibly sourced materials, worker safety conditions, and consumer protection.

Polartec® (“The Buttery Work Vest”)

Polartec® is all things fleece. The science to excellent fleece is in the characteristics of the fibers. By experimenting with knitting, they are able to manufacture fibers with wind block, thermoregulating (stay hot or cool down) qualities, dirt and water resistant, abrasion resistance, sustainable wool, and recycled poly blends – all while maintaining that true to feel touch of fleece. Polartec® was the first company to make knit fabric from recycled water bottles and to date have diverted 1.5 billion bottles from landfills. Now that’s something we can partner with! (Polartec® is also a bluesign® partner.)

Everest (“The Squeeze” pant)

This company has big ambitions. They make stretch wovens – just what Glow Workwear is after when we make bottoms that meet our stretchy performance standards. This Tiwannese company, which recently opened a state-of-the-art textile mill in North Carolina, with efficient heating and cooling systems, is all about innovation. They produce some of the stretchiest doubleweave fabric  (brushed on the inside for feel, yet flat and durable on the outside for abrasion resistance) we could find. They have a deep commitment to R&D and a philosophy of “doing more with less” to achieve their triple bottom line – economy, environment, society. (Everest is a bluesign® partner.)
